Robert Walser (1878-1956), German-Swiss writer, the leading representative of literary modernism. Only in the seventies, he was rediscovered, even though very famous German writers such as Christian Morgenstern, Franz Kafka, Walter Benjamin or Hermann Hesse were among his great admirers. When Musil reviewed Kafka´s first collection of stories, he observed that the Prague author was “a special case of the Walser type.” The end of his life Robert Walser spent in mental home.
